Thanks for the comment, Steven. We offer customers (like you) SSDs as an option in some models, especially for use in high vibration environments, such as helicopters. However, even in the demanding markets our Toughbook mobile computers are used, our customers see HDD failure rates comparable to SSDs (due to our proprietary shock mounting technology and exhaustive testing). We believe our rotating hard drives offer the best mix of reliability, performance, storage capacity and value. That's a combination our customers have come to appreciate.

I have 2 Cf-30's. Each are using an Intel SSD. I do feel that the power use is reduced, and that there is no rotating heads do make it more "Rugged" in my opinion. For some reason I just dont trust those spinners!

So happy to hear Kinetic has a reliable transponder sponsor; everyone lost track of the ship and its crew the last day or so.

You are more than welcome to view the 2010VicMaui utd results @ http://twitter.com/captaingigi

While some convertible tablets – targeting consumer or light enterprise applications - share features with the Toughbook 19, the comparisons ends when you look at the combination of durability, low failure rates and performance. Even when comparing fully-rugged convertible tablets, none can match the 19’s 3.42% failure rate, six foot drop rating and IP65 certification. Once you add the Core i5 processor, Gobi2000 and a 1,000 nit daylight viewable dual touch LCD, the 19 is in a class by itself.

The feature's is great, but every notebook have this kind of feature, I don't even like the shape and bulky body.
